Accompanied by an enthusiastic big band featuring some solos from tenor great Eddie Miller, trombonist Moe Schneider, Jackie Coon on mellophone and the trumpets of John Best and Conrad Gozzo, Pete Fountain is in excellent form on a dozen blues-oriented pieces. Since the swinging arrangements are uncluttered and attention was paid to varying tempos and moods, this LP is one of Fountain's better 6/

5. The version of St Louis Blues which leads the album off HAS be reissued, I'm pretty sure, on compilation albums, but many others, like "Blue Fountain" have never been, at least to my knowledge. The whole album is brilliantly scored by Bud Dant--most of the big band was comprised of veteran players of the swing era who had settled in the LA 5/5(3).
